Our projects
Swaminarayan Mandirs are dedicated primarily to Bhagwan Swaminarayan and follow Vaishnav traditions. The temples house various murtis (idols) of Hindu deities, with Lord Swaminarayan as the central figure.
Principal Deities Worshipped
Bhagwan Swaminarayan
- As Sahajanand Swami or Harikrishna Maharaj (in human form).
- As Sarvavyapi Lord Shree Swaminarayan(the Supreme God).
Ghanshyam Maharaj
- The childhood form of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, often depicted as a young Krishna-like figure.
- Worshipped with great devotion, especially in children’s assemblies.
Want to make a difference?
Swaminarayan Mandirs emphasize pure devotion (bhakti), discipline, and community service.
The worship practices are deeply rooted in Hindu traditions while promoting a modern, inclusive approach to spirituality.
Forms of Worship & Rituals

Daily Puja (Worship)
- Mangala Aarti (Early Morning Prayer) – Performed at sunrise to wake the deities.
- Shangar Aarti & Darshan – Devotees offer ornaments, garments, and prayers.
- Rajbhog Aarti – Midday worship with food offerings.
- Sandhya Aarti (Evening Prayer) – Performed at sunset with devotional singing.
- Shayan Aarti (Night Prayer) – Performed before putting the deities to rest.

Darshan (Sacred Viewing)
- Temples have specific darshan timings when devotees can see and pray to the deities.
- Murtis are adorned with beautiful garments and jewelry according to festivals and seasons.

Bhajans & Kirtans
Singing devotional songs in praise of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and Lord Krishna is a key aspect of worship.

Festivals & Celebrations
- Janmashtami (Birth of Krishna)
- Ram Navami & Swaminarayan Jayanti (Birth of Lord Rama & Swaminarayan)
- Diwali & Annakut (New Year Celebrations)
- Shikshapatri Jayanti (Sacred scripture anniversary)

Abhishek (Sacred Bathing Ritual)
Many temples have Abhishek Mandaps, where devotees can perform a water offering on the murti of Bhagwan Swaminarayan.

Mahaprasad (Sanctified Food Offering)
- Devotees receive prasad (sanctified food) after prayers.
- Some temples serve free meals or Annakut (grand food offering) during special occasions.
Special Features of Worship in Swaminarayan Temples

- Strict vegetarianism is followed.
- No intoxication, gambling, or immoral activities are allowed.
- Disciplined daily rituals conducted by trained Swaminarayan saints (sadhus).
- Spiritual discourses and scriptures, such as Vachanamrut, Shikshapatri, and Bhagavad Gita, are read and discussed regularly.
